I apologize for such a late blog, but here is my first one of 2018.
A New Year…A New Me…
New Year’s resolutions aren’t just silly goals you set out to accomplish over the short period of a year. It seems that as we get older, life flies by so much faster, so we believe that we need to set a few goals that we want to accomplish over the course of the year to come.
Most time people set goals like “I’m going get in shape this year and lose a bunch of weight” or “I’m going to travel more” or “I want to wake up early every day and try to get as much accomplished as I can” or “I’m going to cut back spending.”
Some people follow through with their resolutions but many people don’t, life remains just as hectic and busy as it was months before the new year even started. It’s difficult to follow through with the simplest of goals if you allow life to get in the way.
It is truly important to make time for yourself and accomplish those goals you set.
Last year, in 2017 I set out with the goal to complete the second novel of The Golden Pearl’s planned trilogy. It took roughly six months (once I got rid of the distractions) to complete it.
I have so much more I want to accomplish this year.
Have you ever wanted to work on a project so badly but can’t ever find the time to do it?
Well you’re definitely not the first person to go through that.
Statistics from December 28th, 2016 state that only 8% of people actually follow through with their New Year’s Resolutions.
They say that the first day, of the first month, of the New year, symbolizes a new beginning…but if you think about it, every day of our lives allows for a new beginning. You don’t have to wait for a specific day to set a goal and aim to reach it.
I started my journey of becoming a writer during the spring time, there never really is a specific date of time that I plan to set goals…
Why not live in the moment?
Why not pick up that project and start on it now, not next week, not next month, but today, now?
If you want to become a writer, pick up that napkin at that coffee shop you love so much and start plotting.
If you want to lose those annoying ten pounds, go for a walk outside, I’m sure your dog (or cat…if you’re a cat person) would love to go get some fresh air and exercise. But if you live in Canada and its winter for over half the year…maybe go skiing or snowboarding…or just get that gym pass you’ve been contemplating getting.
Don’t wait around for a specific time to come so you can change your life, change it now.

It is however, a New Year, it is now 2018, so follow your heart and do set yourself goals, small ones at first and then big ones in time to come.
Happy New Year Everyone!
